F_SCALE ACCESSORY (an explanation)
Here's a little utility that was suggested to me by Stephen Samuels
of Petaluma California to help in the accurate scaling of any Calamus
frame.
If you use Calamus, you will be aware that even with the proportional
frame icon highlighted, which will allow the proportions of a frame to
remain constant when resized with the mouse, the upper right width and
height entries, when edited, will resize the frame to those entries
only - thus loosing the previous proportions.
F_SCALE.ACC will calculate the proportions from your ORIGINAL SIZE to the
NEW SIZE with either the new size X-width or the Y-height entered.
In other words - F_SCALE calculates the unknown new size X or Y from the
other three entries.
F_SCALE does not use formatted number entry, thus you may use a decimal
point anyhere in the entry, just make sure that what you enter are
actually numbers. (no "O"s in place of "0"s or commas instead of periods)
If you do make a mistake like the above, nothing will happen except you
will not get the proper result. i.e. 12,5678 (instead of 12.5678) will
be interpreted by F_SCALE as 12.0 even.
SCALE.ACC and SCALE.RSC must both be on your root directory.
If you use Calamus a lot, you may be interested in seeing a demo of the
GENUS font editor for Calamus fonts. GENUS has the tools and ease of use
to satisfy the professional font artist or designer, as well as the
occasional user that just needs to add a character or modify a font for
a particular or temporary use.
Some Genus features:
Loads ALL Calamus fonts and can load two fonts at once.
Loads Pub Partner or PageStream forts for conversion to Calamus fonts.
Character selection available on-screen at all times.
Two clipboards with copy-out, move-out or unique shuffle mode.
Large font name label editor.
Full function modification calculator with global feature.
Automatic kerning for single or all characters with global feature.
Rubber band selection of multiple vector points.
Import/export CVG's
Loading of bitmapped images for easy tracing.
Large screen compatible.
